9 ABSTRACT Fatoni, Muhammad The Reading Recount Text Comprehension of the Eight Grade Student of MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus in academic Year 2012/2013 Taught by Using Crazy Professor Reading Technique. skripsi. Key words: reading comprehension, Crazy Professor Reading Technique. Reading is one of the important English language skills because it plays important role in teaching learning process. Reading is essential for the students to get information or knowledge to support their achievement when they read some literatures such as journal, articles, magazines, books, etc. As we know that there are many kinds of media of information which are written in English, so it is very useful for them. Being able to read well in English seems to be a must for them. The condition of teaching learning process in MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah, many of students felt bored to join reading class. The reason is the teacher always teaches students only by asking students to read the sentences of text one by one and try to translate it together to Indonesia. On this condition the writer tries to apply the Crazy Professor Reading Technique as the technique to teach reading. The objective of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference of reading recount text comprehension of eighth grade students of MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught by using Crazy Professor Reading Technique. This research is an experimental research. The writer uses 1 class. The population used in this research is the eighth grade students of MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 in second semester. The writer recount text as the material and prepares 30 multiple choices about recount text. After the students were given pre test, they were given the treatment for six meeting. Then the data were analyzed using t-test. The result of the experiment shows that the mean of pre test is and the mean of post test is It was found t-observation 6.18 in the level of significance 0.05, the degree of freedom (df) 25, and t-table (t t ) In other word t-observation is higher than t-table (t o >t t ). Thus, H o is denied and H a is confirmed. Therefore, the hypothesis state, there is significant different between The Reading Recount Text Comprehension of eighth grade students of MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus in academic year 2012/2013 before and after being taught by using Crazy Professor Reading Technique is confirmed. Because of the use of Crazy Professor Reading Technique in teaching reading comprehension shows good results, the writer suggest to the english teacher of junior high school can use this technique in teaching reading. It proved that Crazy Professor Reading Technique is effective for encouraging the students reading comprehension ability.

Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muria Kudus. Pembimbing : (1) Diah Kurniati, S.Pd, M.Pd (2) Dra. Sri Endang Kusmaryati, M.Pd. Kata Kunci: pemahaman membaca, teknik profesor gila membaca. Membaca adalah salah satu kemamapuan Bahasa Inggris yang penting karena memiliki peran yang penting dalam proses belajar mengajar. Membaca adalah hal penting bagi murid untuk mendapatkan informasi atau pengetahuan guna mendukung prestasi mereka. Sebagaimana yang telah kita ketahui bersama bahwa ada banyak jenis media informasi yang tertulis dalam Bahasa Inggris, sehingga hal itu menjadi penting bagi mereka. Mampu membaca dengan baik sepertinya menjadi suatu keharusan bagi mereka. Kondisi proses belajar mengajar di MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah, banyak murid yang merasa bosan untuk mengikuti kelas membaca. Alasannya adalah guru bahasa inggrisnya sering mengajar murid-murid hanya dengan cara meminta murid untuk membaca kalimat-kalimatnya satu per satu dan kemudian mencoba untuk menerjemahkannya bersama-sama ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Dalam kondisi ini penulis mencoba menerapkan teknik Profesor Gila Membaca sebagai teknik dalam mengajarkan pemahaman membaca. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan adakah perbedaan secara signifikan pada pemahaman membaca teks recount pada murid kelas delapan MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 sebelum dan setelah diajar dengan menggunakan teknik profesor gila membaca. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Penulis menggunakan 1 kelas. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah murid MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus kelas delapan semester dua tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Penulis menggunakan teks recount sebagai materi pelajaran dan mempersiapkan 30 soal pilihan ganda tentang teks recount. Setelah murid diberi pre test, mereka diberi penanganan sebanyak 6 pertemuan. Kemudian data yang diperoleh dianalisa menggunakan t-test. Hasil dari eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata hasil pre test adalah dan rata-rata dari hasil post test adalah Ditemukan bahwa nilai t- observasi adalah 6.18 dengan tingkat signifikan 0.05, degree of freedom 25, t- table (t t ) Dengan kata lain t-observasinya lebih tinggi dari pada t-table (t o >t t ). Dengan demikian, H o ditolak dan H a diterima. Oleh karena itu, pernyataan hipotesis yang berbunyi Ada perbedaan secara signifikan antara pemahaman membaca teks recount pada murid kelas delapan MTs NU Wahid Hasyim Salafiyah Jekulo Kudus tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 sebelum dan setelah diajar dengan menggunakan teknik profesor gila membaca itu diterima.
11 Dikarenakan penggunaan teknik professor gila membaca dalam proses pengajaran pemahaman membaca menunjukkan hasil yang bagus, penulis menyarankan bahwa guru bahasa inggris pada sekolah menengah pertama dapat menggunakan teknik ini dalam mengajarkan pemahaman membaca. Hal ini terbukti bahwa teknik profesor gila membaca efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca murid.
