Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muria Kudus. Pembimbing: (1) Diah Kurniati S.Pd, M.Pd, (2) Nuraeningsih, S.Pd, M.Pd Key words: EFL, pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris. Pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris merupakan aspek penting dari pengembangan kompetensi sosiolinguistik siswa dalam bahasa asing di tingkat manapun. Berbicara bahasa Inggris adalah keterampilan rumit karena membutuhkan banyak elemen yang akan secara simultan digunakan pada satu waktu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan bagaimana pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris kepada siswa kelas XI SMA 2 Bae Kudus di tahun pelajaran 2016/2017, dan untuk mengetahui permasalahan dalam mengajar berbicara bahasa Inggris. Penulis menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data dari penelitian ini adalah pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris kepada siswa kelas XI. Sementara itu, instrumen yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan observasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru dari SMA 2 Bae Kudus. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris yang diterapkan oleh guru adalah: menjelaskan apa yang siswa akan lakukan dan apa manfaat yang akan mereka dapatkan dari aktivitas sebelum memulai proses belajar mengajar, dipasangkan atau kelompok, bermain peran dan melatih, guru juga memotivasi dan memberikan penguatan kepada siswa. Media yang digunakan dalam mengajar berbicara bahasa Inggris adalah papan tulis, buku, poster, laptop, dan LCD. Dan guru mengevaluasi pengajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris menggunakan tanya jawab. Penulis menyimpulkan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris menemukan masalah untuk mengajar berbicara bahsa Inggris tapi dia bisa memecahkan masalah dengan menggunakan strategi nya. penulis menyarankan untuk meningkatkan strategi dalam mengajar bahasa Inggris sehingga siswa tertarik untuk belajar bahasa Inggris terutama dalam berbicara bahsa Inggris. ix

Teaching speaking is an essential aspect of developing students' sociolinguistic competence in a foreign language at any level. Speaking is a complicated skill because it needs many elements to be simultaneously used at a time. The purpose of this research is to describe how is teaching speaking to the eleventh grade students of SMA 2 Bae Kudus in the academic year 2016/2017, and to find out the problems in teaching speaking. The writer used a descriptive qualitative research design. The data of this research is teaching speaking the eleventh grade students. Meanwhile, the instrument used is interview and observation. The subject of this research is the teacher of SMA 2 Bae Kudus. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the method of teaching speaking implemented by the teacher are: explaining what students will do and what benefit they will get from the activity before starting the teaching and learning process, do paired or group, role play and drilling, teacher also motivate and give reinforcement to the students.
