Siapa nama? (Use the appropriate term of address.) Siapa nama Ibu? (What is your name, madam?) To ask a child what his or her name is, you say the following: Siapa nama kamu? To ask your teacher s name, you ask one of these questions: 73

Siapa nama Ibu? (For female) Siapa nama Bapak? (For male) To ask someone s name who is of similar age, then you say the following: Siapa nama anda/ saudara? To ask about a third person s name, use dia/ ia (his/her): Siapa nama dia? To tell someone your name, you say the following: Nama saya adalah. To ask who a person is, you say the following: Siapa dia? (The word dia is the third person singular for female or male). In Indonesian, the use of adalah is optional. Thus one can say the following: Nama saya adalah Nano. (or) Nama saya Nano. (My name is Nano.) Nama dia adalah Mala. (or) Nama dia Mala. (Her name is Mala.)
