TEXT 2 You may make notes in this space. Desaku di Tengah Modernisasi Johan Kehidupan di desaku banyak dipengaruhi oleh arus modernisasi yang dibawa oleh wisatawan, masuknya teknologi, pengetahuan baru tentang sistem perdagangan dari luar dan timbulnya gaya hidup baru. Kecintaan akan kebersihan, keselarasan dan keseimbangan alam sekitar serta kehidupan keseharian yang berpatokan pada keharmonisan bermasyarakat mulai pudar. Desaku tampak kotor dan terlihat tumpukan sampah yang berserakan. Lebih jauh lagi, kehidupan keseharian pada pola makan kami pun berubah. Banyak pedagang makanan kecil menawarkan dagangan, seperti permen dan mie instan yang sangat populer. Namun, karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang arti masa pakai pada makanan instan, banyak makanan yang sudah kadaluwarsa tetap dikonsumsi. Masyarakat mengenal kehidupan malam dan muncul kebiasaan merokok. Kehidupan seperti ini mengkhawatirkan kepala desa. Sejak beberapa tahun terakhir ini, kesadaran akan nilai dan norma sosial di desaku mulai ditekankan kembali. Seperti mengembalikan penggunaan bambu untuk alat-alat rumah tangga dan bukan plastik. Diharapkan mereka dapat memelihara kecintaan akan alam. Wisatawan pun diharapkan ikut berperan dalam mengembalikan nilai-nilai luhur warga desaku. Tetapi keinginan mengembalikan adat ini sulit dicapai. Misalnya bentuk dan bahan bangunan rumah sudah berbeda, warna pakaian lebih beraneka, pergaulan semakin luas. Walau bagaimanapun, tantangan modernisasi ini perlu disesuaikan dengan kondisi dan sejarah masyarakat desaku yang unik. SECTION 2 continued

Lokasi tempat tinggal kami dekat dengan sebuah desa yang sudah modern dan menjadi pusat perekonomian, sehingga desa kami merasakan pengaruhnya. Setelah beberapa tahun, akhirnya modernisasi merambah dalam keseharian kami. Aku merasa sangat beruntung, tidak saja mendapat pendidikan secara informal ataupun menikmati kemajuan teknologi, tetapi juga bisa berinteraksi dengan dunia luar. Desa kami yang tadinya gelap gulita pada malam hari, sekarang memiliki lampu energi matahari dari pemerintah. Dengan demikian kegiatan kami sehari-hari tidak terhalang oleh waktu dan produktifitas masyarakat bertambah. Semua perubahan ini menjadikan masyarakat di desa kami lebih banyak berpikir mengenai kebutuhan materi dan kehidupan yang mudah. Seperti misalnya memakai pakaian yang serba modern, telepon genggam bahkan alas kaki pun semakin marak di masyarakat. Mau tidak mau, cepat atau lambat globalisasi akan hadir di setiap sudut dunia. Sayangnya perubahan ini tidak dibarengi dengan kesiapan pendidikan yang memadai. Walaupun ekonomi sudah mendukung, masyarakat kami sebenarnya belum siap menghadapi perubahan yang drastis, sehingga terjadi goncangan budaya dan pergeseran nilai-nilai adat. Sebagai manifestasinya kehidupan sosial masyarakat cenderung mementingkan kepentingan pribadi dan kurang beradaptasi dengan lingkungan. Question 2 Sebagai seorang pemerhati budaya, Anda ditugaskan membuat laporan untuk lembaga Lintas Budaya Indonesia.
