CHAPTER V CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION This chapter presents the conclusion and the suggestion of the study. The suggestion is proposed based on the significance of the study have been stated in chapter I, the result of the analysis, and the conclusion presented in this chapter. 5.1 Conclusion Based on the result of the analysis of the study, the writer concludes that the translation of narrative text from Bahasa Indonesia into English of the students of class XI of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang is Very Bad. In fact only 51 (35.41 %) sentences are correct or Good while 93 (64.59 %) are wrong or Bad. The areas of difficulties faced by the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang Kupang in Translating a Narrative text from Bahasa Indonesia into English are lack of grammatical structure, in this case simple past tense (4.88%), past participle (5.75 %) and vocabulary (9.88 %). 5.2 Suggestion In line with the significance of the study and conclusion, the suggestions are offered to the teacher of English and the students learning English. 1. For the English Teacher The Teachers of English especially those teaching at the research school are suggested: The teacher of English should give more emphases in teaching English vocabulary so the students are expected to memorize those English words which are related to the lesson. In
teaching English, the teacher should give more exercises for the students in translating a text at least one topic in every English meeting from Indonesian language into English. 2. For the Students The Students are suggested to learn more about English grammar and lexicon or lexicon grammar of English and practice translation both from Bahasa Indonesia into English and the students must pay attention the number of each sentence that are translated. APPENDICES GADIS DALAM CERMIN Pada suatu hari, saya menghadiri sebuah pesta ketika seseorang mengajak saya untuk pergi ke kamar tidur di ruang bawah tanah, dan kemudian dia mematikan lampu, dan menutup pintu (1).
Saya berada di ruangan itu selama lima menit (2). Setelah sekitar satu menit, lampu mulai berkedip dan padam (3). Saya yakin bahwa itu adalah salah satu dari teman-teman saya bermain trik pada saya (4). Pada ketiga kalinya lampu berkedip-kedip, saya melihat seorang gadis cantik di cermin dan tangannya meraih ke arahku (5). Saya mendengar suara tapi saya untuk mengerti (6). Saya akhirnya menyadari bahwa gadis itu mengucapkan "Berhati-hatilah, dia datang" saya merasa tepukan di punggung saya dan tiba-tiba, dia sudah pergi (7). Saya berlari keluar berteriak dan teman-teman saya menertawakan saya (8). Malam berikutnya ketika keluarga saya sedang tidur, hujan begitu deras dan kucing saya, Rosie, telah mati (9). GIRL IN THE MIRROR One day, I was at a party when somebody asked me to go into a bedroom in the basement, and then he/she turned off the lights, and closed the door (1). I was there for about five minutes. (2) After about a minute, the lights started to flick on and off (3). I was sure that it was one of my
friends playing a trick on me (4). About the third times the lights flickered, I saw a beautiful girl in the mirror and her hand was reaching toward me (5) I heard a voice but I had a hard time to understand it (6). I finally realized that the girl was saying (7) beware, he s coming I felt a tap on my back and all of a suddenly, she was gone (8). I ran out screaming and my friends laugh at me (8). The next night when my family was asleep, it rained so heavily and my cat, Rosie, was dead (9).
