ABSTRACT THE ERRORS IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT SECOND SEMESTER OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT STUDENTS (Nyayu Hamidah, 2016, 27 Pages, 1 Table, 1 Diagram) The purposes of this final report are to know what kinds of errors and to know the percentage of error in students descriptive text. The writer used descriptive quantitative method where the writer described one by one the error and calculated the percentage of errors in students descriptive text. The data were collected through written product which was made by second semester students of English department students. After getting the data, the writer calculated and made the percentage of errors into a chart. It could be concluded that there were 4 types of errors which were made by second semester students of English department. They were omission (64.28%), addition (6.04%), misinformation (28.57%) and the last misordering (1,09%). Keywords: Error, Writing, Descriptive text, English Department Students. ABSTRAK KESALAHAN DALAM MENULIS TEKS DESKRIPTIF OLEH MAHASISWA SEMESTER DUA JURUSAN BAHASA INGGRIS (Nyayu Hamidah, 2016, 27 Halaman, 1 Tabel, 1 Diagram) Tujuan penulisan laporan akhir ini yaitu untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis kesalahan dan persentase kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menulis teks deskriptif. Penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dimana penulis menjelaskan satu persatu jeniss kesalahan dan menghitung persentase kesalahan yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa semester dua bahasa inggris. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa karangan yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa semester dua jurusan bahasa inggris. Setelah mendapatkan data, penulis menghitung persentase kesalahan kedalam sebuah diagram. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada 4 jenis kesalahan yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa semester dua jurusan bahasa inggris. Kesalahan- kesalahan tersebut terdiri dari omission (64,28%), addition (6,04%), misinfomation (28,57%) dan yang terakhir misordering (1,09%).
