ABSTRACT Nazariah. 2016. The Correlation Between Students Vocabulary Mastery and Their Listening Ability of The Eleventh Grade at Integrated Islamic Senior High School Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru School Year 2016/2017. Thesis, English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training. Advisors: (1)Drs. Saadillah, M.Pd (II) Hj. Noor Maulidiyah, M.A Keywords: Vocabulary, Mastery, Listening, Ability, Correlation This research describes the correlation between vocabulary mastery and listening ability of the eleventh grade students at Integrated Islamic Senior High School Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru School Year 2016/2017. The problems that should be answered in this research are: 1) How is the students vocabulary mastery? 2) How is the students ability in listening ability? 3) Is there any significant correlation between students vocabulary mastery and their listening ability? There are two assumption and hypothesis in this research. The assumptions are: (1) Each student has different vocabulary mastery and listening ability. (2) the students vocabulary mastery influences listening ability. The hypothesis is Ha there is correlation between students vocabulary mastery and listening ability. Ho there is no correlation between students vocabulary mastery and listening ability The subject of this research is the eleventh grade students at Integrated Islamic Senior High School Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru School Year 2016/2017. There are 75 students in the eleventh grade. While the object of the research is the correlation between the vocabulary mastery and listening ability of the eleventh grade students at Integrated Islamic Senior High School Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru School Year 2016/2017. The data of this research are collected through: written test and documentary. Then all data are analyzed with quantitative method and by using inductive method to draw conclusion. There are two steps of analyzing data. The first step is to find out the degree of students vocabulary mastery and listening ability and the correlation degree of them. The last step is to test the hypothesis. By using product moment formula, the final result shows that r xy is 0.557. For N = 75, r table in 5% fault is 0.227 and 1% fault is 0.296. it appears that r xy is more than r table. It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is denied and the hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between students vocabulary mastery and listening ability. The direction of correlation is positive correlation and sufficient category. vi

Korelasi antara Penguasaan Kosa Kata dan Kemampuan Menyimak Materi Berbahasa Inggris pada Siswa Kelas Sebelas di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Islam Terpadu Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Skripsi, Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan. Pembimbing: (I) Drs. Saadillah, M.Pd (II) Hj. Noor Maulidiyah, M.A Keywords: Kosa kata, penguasaan, mendengarkan, kemampuan, korelasi Penelitian ini menggambarkan korelasi antara penguasaan kosa kata dan kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas sebelas di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Islam Terpadu Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Masalah yang harus dijawab dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Bagaimana penguasaan siswa dalam kosa kata berbahasa Inggris. 2) Bagaimana kemampuan mendengarkan siswa materi berbahasa Inggris. 3) Apakah ada korelasi yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosa kata dengan kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggris pada siswa. Ada dua asumsi dan hipotesis dalam penelitian ini. Asumsi itu adalah: 1) Setiap siswa memiliki penguasaan yang berbeda dalam kosa kata dan kemampuan mendengarkan materi berbahasa Inggris. 2) Penguasaan kosa kata siswa mempengaruhi kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggris mereka. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah Ha. Ada korelasi antara keahlian kosa kata dan kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggris pada siswa. Ho, tidak ada korelasi antara keahlian kosa kata dan kemampuan menyimak Materi berbahasa Inggris pada siswa. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sebelas di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Islam Terpadu Qardhan Hasana Banjarbaru tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Dengan jumlah 75 siswa. Sedangkan objek dari penelitian ini adalah korelasi antara penguasaan kosa kata dan kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggris pada siswa. Cara pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah: tes tertulis, dan dokumentasi. Lalu, semua data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan menggunakan metode induktif untuk membuat kesimpulan. Ada dua langkah penganalisaan data. Petama adalah langkah mengetahui tingkat penguasaan koa kata dan kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggis pada siswa serta korelasi antara keduanya. Langkah terakhir adalah tes hipotesis. Dengan menggunakan product moment, hasil akhir menunjukan bahwa r xy adalah 0.557. untuk N = 75, r table pada kesalahan 5% adalah 0.227 dan pada kesalahan 1% adalah 0.296. ini menunjukan bahwa r xy lebih dari r table. Itu berarti hipotesis (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternative (Ha) diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada korelasi signifikan antara penguasaan kosa kata dan kemampuan menyimak materi berbahasa Inggris. arah dari korelasi ini positif dan berada di kategori cukup. vii
