ABSTRACT The increasing the number of competitions and competitors in Global Market demands the companies to maintain the competitive advantage. In other words, in Modern Global Market the key to increase competitive advantege is Quality. Remembering the importance of Quality, there are many studies done in world-class companies which sucessfully implement Total Quality Management ( TQM ). TQM is system that can be developed into the approaches to do business to maximize the organization s competitive advantage through continuous improvement of products, services, employees, process and environment. Total Quality Management also related to performance, the employees performance can be viewed from :Quality of work, Promptness, Initiative, Capability, Communication. Accordingly, this study tries to analyze the influence of TQM that consist of Leadership, Strategic planning, Customer focus, Information and analysis, Process management and Resources management on employee performance. The variables of this research are Total Quality Management and employees performance. The samples were taken with Purposive sampling method. The method used in this research is observation method using questionnaires in which the managers and employees acted as respondents. The results of this research shows that TQM has positive influence toward the employees performance. Key words : Quality, Total Quality Management, Employees Performace vii

ABSTRAK Meningkatnya intentitas persaingan dan jumlah pesaing dalam pasar global menuntut perusahaan untuk mempertahankan keunggulan daya saing agar dapat bersaing. Dengan kata lain, dalam pasar global modern, kunci untuk meningkatkan daya saing adalah kualitas. Mengingat pentingnya kualitas bagi kelangsungan hidup perusahaan, banyak studi terhadap perusahaan kelas dunia yang berhasil menerapkan manajemen kualitas atau Total Quality Management (TQM). Total Quality Management (TQM) merupakan sistem yang dapat dikembangkan menjadi pendekatan dalam menjalankan usaha memaksimumkan daya saing perusahaan melalui perbaikan terus menerus atas produk, jasa, karyawan, proses, dan lingkungannya. Total Quality Management (TQM) berkaitan dengan kinerja karyawan, penilaian kinerja karyawan diukur berdasarkan : kemampuan, inisiatif, ketepatan waktu, kualitas hasil kerja dan komunikasi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini mencoba menganalisis pengaruh penerapan Total Quality Management (TQM) yang terdiri dari kepemimpinan, perencanaan strategis, fokus pada pelanggan, informasi dan analisis, manajemen proses, dan manajemen sumber daya terhadap kinerja karyawan. Adapun variabel yang digunakan meliputi Total Quality Management (TQM) dan kinerja karyawan. Sampel digunakan dengan metode purposive sampling. Metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah metode observasi berupa kuisioner dengan responden karyawan dan manajer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Total Quality Management (TQM) berpengaruh secara positif terhadap kinerja karyawan. Kata kunci : Kualitas, Total Quality Management (TQM), dan Kinerja karyawan viii
