6 ABSTRACT Maria Leswinda Wulan A Correlation Study on Habit in Watching Animation Movies, Vocabulary Mastery, and Writing Skill of The Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta in The Academic Year of 2015/2016.English Education Department.Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas Maret University. Surakarta The objectives of the study are to determine the correlation between (1) habit in watching animation movies and writing skill; (2) vocabulary mastery and writing skill; and (3) habit in watching animation movies, vocabulary mastery, and writing skill; and to predict the contribution of habit in watching animation movies and vocabulary mastery toward writing skill. This study used correlation study. It is carried out in May 2016 at SMA Negeri4Surakarta. The population of this study was all the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta which consists of ten classes. The total number of the students was 320 students. The sample for this study was 31 students taken by cluster random sampling technique. The instruments for collecting the data were questionnaire and test. Questionnaire was used to collect the data of habit in watching animation movies and test was used to collect the data of vocabulary mastery and writing skill. The techniques which were used to analyze the data were Simple Correlation and Multiple Regression and Correlation. The results of the data analysis show that at the level of significance α = 0.05 (1) there is a positive correlation between habit in watching animation movies and writing skill (r x1y = , t o = >t t = 1.7); (2) there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and writing skill (r x2y = , t o = >t t = 1.7); (3) there is a positive correlation between habit in watching animation, vocabulary mastery, and writing skill(r y12 = and F o = 16.65> F t = 3.34). From that result, habit in watching animation movies and vocabulary mastery are important factors that give contribution to writing skill. The students habit in watching animation movies gives 24.35% contribution to students writing skill and students vocabulary mastery gives 25.67% contribution to students writing skill. The students habit in watching animation movies and vocabulary mastery give 74% contribution to students writing skill. In conclusion, this study shows that habit in watching animation movies and vocabulary mastery are important factors that can improve students writing skill. 7 ABSTRAK Maria Leswinda Wulan A Correlational Study on Habit in Watching Animation Movies, Vocabulary Mastery, and Writing Skill of The Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta in The Academic Year of 2015/2016. Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Sebelas Maret. Surakarta Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara (1) kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa inggris dan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris; (2) penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris dan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris; dan (3) kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa Inggris, penguasaan kosakata bahsa Inggris, terhadap kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris; dan untuk memprediksi kontribusi kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa Inggris,penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris, dan terhadap kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasi dan telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei di SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta. Kelas sebelas terdiri dari 10 kelas. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas sebelas SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta berjumlah 320 orang siswa.sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 31 orang siswa yang diambil menggunakan metode cluster random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah kuesioner dan tes. Kuesioner digunkan untuk mengumpulkan data kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa inggris dan tes digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penguasaan kosakata bahasa inggris dan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris. Teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data adalahsimple Correlation and Multiple Regression Correlation. Analisis data menunjukkan pada level signifikansi α = 0.05, terdapat korelasi positif antara (1) kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa Inggris dan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris(r x1y = , t o = >t t = 1.7); (2) penguasaan kosakata bahasa inggris dan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris (r x2y = , t o = >t t = 1.7); (3) kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa Inggris,penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris dan terhadap kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa (R y12 = and F o = > F t = 3.34). Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa inggris dan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa inggris sangatlah penting dalam memberikan kontribusi dalam kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa. Kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa inggris memberikan 24.35% kontribusi pada kemampuan menulis bahasa inggris siswa dan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa inggris memberikan kontribusi 25.67% pada kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa. Kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa Inggris dan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa inggris memberikan kontribusi 74% terhadap kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini, kebiasaan menonton film animasi berbahasa Inggris dan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa.
