SUGGESTION PARTICIPANTS (OPTIONAL) ACTION OR EVENT ADJUNCT OF TIME (OPTIONAL) Bagaimana kalau kita pergi ke bioskop malam ini? To respond affirmatively to suggestions we can we can say either : Bisa! Boleh! I can / it can be done I may / it is possible To respond negatively to a suggestion we can use either: Tidak mungkin! Tidak bisa! Tidak boleh! That s not possible! I can t / it can t be done! I am not allowed / it is not permissible When responding negatively to question about possibility or to a suggestion, it is polite to give a reason for being unable to undertake an activity. The response could follow the pattern: REJECTION OF SUGGESTION Tidak mungkin saya bisa ke Bali. It s not possible for me to go to Bali. Saya tidak bisa ke pesta. I can t go to the party. Saya tidak boleh ke bioskop. I am not allowed to go to the cinema. REASON FOR REJECTION Tidak ada uang untuk tiketnya. I don t have money for the ticket. Tidak ada transportasi. Activities, plans and appointments Kegiatan (activity), renacana (plan) and janji (promise or appointment) are different ways of expressing that one has a commitment to fulfil. Saya ada banyak kegiatan I have many activities di luar sekolah. outside of school Saya ada rencana pergi ke bioskop besok malam. Saya ada janji dengan dokter gigi minggu depan. I plan to go to the cinema tomorrow night. I have a dental appointment next week. Note that janji can also be used for arrangements that you have made with people and not just for official appointments.
