1 ABSTRAK Tata Letak (layout) merupakan salah satu landasan utama dalam dunia industri. Tata Letak yang terencana dengan baik akan ikut menentukan efektivitas dan efisiensi kegiatan produksi, mengurangi aliran proses produksi yang tidak perlu, mengurangi biaya operasi, dan dalam beberapa hal juga akan menjaga kelangsungan hidup perusahaan dan keberhasilan suatu perusahaan, sehingga perusahaan tersebut mampu untuk menghasilkan suatu produk yang memiliki kualitas tinggi dengan biaya produksi yang minimum. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah mengetahui penataan mesin dan peralatan pabrik saat ini, memberikan alternatif layout mesin yang efisien untuk meminimumkan jarak perpindahan pada PT.Yasako. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa layout mesin di PT.Yasako saat ini belum optimum, sehingga disarankan untuk mengubah layout yang sekarang agar menjadi lebih optimum. Dengan menggunakan tata letak yang baru akan dapat mengurangi load distance sebesar (dalam ribuan yard). 2 ABSTRACT Layout is one of the basic in the industrial world. Good layout planned will also determine the effectiveness and efficiency of production activities, reducing the flow of the production process that is not necessary, reduce operating costs, and in some cases also will maintain the company's survival and success of a company, so the company is able to produce a product which high quality with minimum production costs. The purpose of the study was to determine the arrangement of machinery and plan equipment at this time, provide an efficient alternative machine layout to minimize the movement on PT.Yasako. The results showed that the machine layout in PT.Yasako currently not optimum, so it is able to change the current layout to be more optimum. By using the new layout will be able to reduce the load distance of (in thousand of yards). Key words : layout, arrangement of the machine, minimizing the movement, load distance. ix
